Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Prelto Mac application and website handle information. Prelto has no accounts, and no Prelto server receives your voice, your dictation, your questions, or what is on your screen.

1. Information We Collect

Prelto does not collect personal information. The Mac app processes content on your device, including microphone audio, transcripts, on-screen context, and generated text. We only receive what you choose to send us, such as a support email or a diagnostics file you attach to one.

2. Voice, Screen, and Text Content

Speech-to-text runs entirely on your Mac using a local model. Microphone audio never leaves your Mac. The app briefly stores audio on your device for crash recovery only; that buffer is deleted when a capture completes and is automatically removed within 24 hours in all cases.

AI cleanup is optional. When it is on, the transcript text (and your custom vocabulary, if enabled) is sent from your Mac to the AI provider you chose, or processed on your Mac if you use Prelto Local.

When you ask a question or request a draft, Prelto sends what it captured at the moment you pressed the key directly to the AI provider you connected: your spoken request, the frontmost app name, window title, browser page address, selected text, focused-field text, and, when needed to answer, a screenshot of the window you are looking at. Screenshots are skipped when your selection is enough, when you turn off including the window, or when screen access is not allowed. Context is captured only at the moment you press the key; Prelto has no ambient or background capture.

3. AI Providers You Connect

Ask and AI cleanup use your own account with an AI provider, such as OpenRouter or Groq. Requests go from your Mac straight to that provider; Prelto does not see, relay, or store them. That provider's privacy policy, data settings, and billing apply to those requests, so review them before you connect.

Your API keys are stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac and are only sent to the provider they belong to. If you connect OpenRouter in your browser, OpenRouter creates a key on your account and hands it to Prelto on your Mac; you can revoke it in your OpenRouter settings at any time.

4. History and Diagnostics on Your Mac

The app keeps a local history of recent activity on your Mac (up to 100 entries for up to 30 days), which can include transcripts and selected text. You can turn retained content off in settings, which also removes previously retained text. Diagnostic logs redact content by default, stay on your Mac, and are only shared if you export them and send them to us.

5. Earlier Versions

Before version 2.0, Prelto used accounts, a subscription, and Prelto cloud services. Those services have been retired. If you had a Prelto account and want its data deleted, email us and we will delete it.

6. Service Providers

Cloudflare hosts this website, app downloads, update checks, and downloadable models. Update checks and model downloads expose only your IP address and app version, with no system profiling. The Mac app and website contain no analytics or advertising trackers.

7. How We Use Information

• Deliver app downloads, updates, and models.
• Respond to support requests and diagnose problems you report.
• Comply with legal, security, and abuse-prevention obligations.

Prelto does not sell your data and does not use your content to train AI models.

8. Data Retention

Content Prelto handles stays on your Mac, except requests you send to an AI provider, which that provider keeps according to its own terms. We keep support emails as long as needed to help you and for legal and operational reasons.

9. Security

API keys are kept in the macOS Keychain, and requests to AI providers use encrypted connections. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, and you are responsible for the security of your devices and your provider accounts.

10. Your Choices

You can use Prelto without any AI provider, keep AI cleanup on your Mac with Prelto Local, choose or remove providers at any time, stop including the window you are looking at, turn off retained history, delete local app data from your device, and revoke keys in your provider's settings.

11. Children

Prelto is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
